We work very closely with our partners at ACoRP (the Association of Community Rail Partnerships) to support and develop the community rail agenda. ACoRP is the membership body for almost 50 community rail partnerships, representing nearly 70 community rail lines across the UK, as well as almost 1000 station adoption groups. Over the last three years Northern have been working in partnership with the National Citizens Service in Bradford and the Calder Valley to support the growing youth population in the Leeds City Region. Our aim was to promote our core principles of corporate social responsibilities and the Department for Transport Community Rail Strategy to go beyond our traditional areas of community engagement to bring young people closer to our network. The National Youth programme is aimed at 16-17 year olds and aims to increase confidence, promote social cohesion, develop soft skills and give back to the local community through a variety of different social action projects.
